Title
Portrait of Henry Bell
Artist
Helensburgh
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas Over Board
Description
Scottish engineer Henry Bell (1767-1830) is credited with pioneering the development of Europe's first successful passenger steamboat service, a paddle steamer named PS Comet, which ran between Greenock and Glasgow on the River Clyde in 1812. This is a very old oil on canvas of Henry Bell which has been stretched over panel and has some light cracking which is normal for very old paintings It look to be in an old antique frame which matches the time period of the painting.
