Charles MONGINOT, born in Brienne-le-Château (Aube) in 1825, is sent to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the workshop of Thomas COUTURE. He became friends with Edouard MANET. He leads a career of painter recognized in Paris, and will die in Dienville (Aube) in 1900. Charles Monginot (1825 - 1900) Signed lower left. In the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Charles Joseph Monginot is a French painter belonging to the academic artistic style. From his childhood, his talents for drawing and painting are noticed allowing him to enter the School of Fine Arts in Paris, in the studio of Thomas Couture. He befriends Edouard Manet. Renowned painter in Paris, he mainly produces portraits, still life and landscape paintings. This still life painting depicts a salad bowl, carafes and radishes. Condition is good.
The Neighborhood Gallery on Fine Art America is offering this painting in it's original frame which measures 36" x 28" in height. It is hand signed on the lower left.
