Drawing - Pencil On Watercolor Paper
Description
Born with the name Milton Rauschenberg in Port Arthur, Texas, Robert Rauschenberg became one of the major artists of his generation and is credited along with Jasper Johns of breaking the stronghold of Abstract Expressionism*.
Rauschenberg was known for assemblage*, conceptualist methods, printmaking, and willingness to experiment with non-artistic materials--all innovations that anticipated later movements such as Pop Art, Conceptual-ism, and Minimalism.
In May, 1999, ART News magazine featured him as one of the top twenty-five influential western artists, stating: "His irreverent notions of what an artwork could be gained him the status of an L'Enfant terrible. Rauschenberg pushed the viewer to accept the unexpected. This drawing was purchase by a personal friend of Rauschenberg. It is a one of kind drawing being marketed for the first time. It is in pristine condition, measures 6.25"x 8" and has never been framed. It is signed on the lower left Rauschenberg 92. This drawing depicts the view through several archways of a building. This drawing is in excellent condition. For more information contact Richard Beau Lieu at 561-736-8181 or email: beaulieustudios@aol.com Note:Price just reduced From $150,000 to $120,000
